KENYA GOVERNMENT LAUNCHED MILK COOLING PLANT
President Uhuru Launched construction of Milk Cooling Plant which will help dairy farmers store and sell at an affordable price.
Kenya President Uhuru Kenyatta has officially launch the construction of a milk cooling plant. The project is aimed at improving the welfare of farmers around the country.
Speaking during the launch, President Kenyatta said dairy farmers needs to take advantage of the facilities after the construction. He also noted that the cooling plant will help them store their milk and sell it to a processor at an affordable price.
The New Kenya Co-operative Creameries (KCC) facility will have a holding capacity of 100,000 litres with a completion date set for October this year; at a construction cost of US$2.4m.
According to report from local media house Capital FM, the President also announced plans to construct more plants which will help the sector.
Meanwhile, Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi assured the president that his county will work with the national government with project delivery.
The plant will serve dairy farmers from five of the nine sub-counties in Meru County. Such areas include Tigania East, Tigania West, Tigania Central, Igembe North and Igembe South.
